Join Us in Celebrating the Tenth Anniversary of the AYHE! - The HARPS Foundation - American Youth Harp Ensemble (HARPS - AYHE) presents a "World Music Showcase and Celebration Concert" as part of ongoing festivities surrounding the group’s tenth anniversary this year. This extraordinary event features works composed or arranged by internationally-renowned harpists specifically for the unique configuration of the Ensemble. The repertoire includes vibrant world music as well as pieces performed by the group while touring in Scotland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, England and Italy during HARPS - AYHE's first decade. The "World Music Showcase and Celebration Concert" presents fifty harpists, ages six to eighteen, who participate in the group's Outreach, Troubadour, Lyra, Concert, and Touring Ensembles. From the youngest harpists on their lever harps to the seasoned performers on their grand pedal harps, the performance is sure to delight and amaze.

MORE ABOUT THE AMERICAN YOUTH HARP ENSEMBLE The American Youth Harp Ensemble has garnered local, national, and international acclaim performing in venues such as Carnegie Hall and the United Nations, music festivals in Edinburgh, Scotland; Paris, France; London, England; and Rome and Milan, Italy; for the Association of Personnel in Public Radio National Conference (Portland, OR) and subsequent broadcasts of AYHE recordings on National Public Radio affiliate stations across the US; and in PBS special feature television programs. In 2009 alone, AYHE harpists performed over one hundred and fifty full-ensemble, small group, and solo concerts, which coupled with media broadcasts, delighted over 300,000 discriminating and first time listeners alike.

The "World Music Showcase and Celebration Concert" presents an opportunity to hear the American Youth Harp Ensemble locally prior to them taking the stage for the second time at the U.S. Department of State's prestigious State of the Arts series and in the Austrian Cultural Forum at the Embassy of Austria in Washington, D.C. on June 30. In December of this year the group will travel to Austria to perform as featured guests at the Advent Music Festival. The American Youth Harp Ensemble has already been honored by and accepted invitations to perform in 2011 at the Kennedy Center and the American Harp Society's National Summer Harp Institute.
