Seeking an interim organist or pianist for weekly Sunday service (10:45 am - 12 noon) during the summer months of July and August 2010. Responsibilities will be to play hymns for congregation to sing, meditation music during weekly communion and offertory during Sunday morning worship. Hymns will be chosen by the minister in coordination with musician. Musician will choose meditation music to play during specified sections in worship. Instruments available to play during service are a grand piano, Clavinova, and a Rodgers 2-manual organ.

Preferred experience in playing for a Sunday worship service from any Christian Tradition. There are no choir responsibilities during this time as the choir takes the summer off. Artistic Director of The Central Virginia Masterworks Chorale (CVAMC)

CVAMC is an Ashland-based SATB chorale averaging 40 central Virginia volunteer singers. The successful candidate will direct this quality-minded chorale in continuing to learn musical masterworks, as well as sacred and secular anthems/songs, and perform twice a year in public concerts, as well as direct occasional brief local performances (e.g., Ashland Strawberry Faire, Ashland Variety Show). Traditionally, at least one of the CVAMC concerts per year has orchestral accompaniment, coordinated by the director, with Board approval. The chorale currently rehearses Monday nights for two hours from mid-August to December and mid-January to May accompanied by an accomplished performance-quality pianist/organist.
Qualifications: Outstanding choral conducting and leadership skills; experience in directing similar groups and musical genre; broad knowledge of choral repertoire; proficiency in conducting musical works in their original language; key boarding skills for sectional rehearsals; proven recruiting ability; and strong interpersonal skills.
